Readojo is an iPhone app for learning languages in short lessons, with Sensei, an AI tutor. This page explains what the app collects, why, who helps us run it, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
Account. You can start as a guest without giving any personal details. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier from your provider and, if you allow it, your name and email address. We use them to recognise your account and to contact you about it.
Learning activity. The language you learn, your onboarding answers (such as your goal and how many minutes a day you want to learn), the lessons you open and finish, your answers, the sentences you write, and your XP, streak and progress. This is how the app works and how it shows your progress.
Purchases. If you subscribe, Apple handles the payment. We receive your subscription status from Apple through RevenueCat so the app can unlock what you paid for. We never see your card details.
How the app is used. We record events such as which steps you reach and when you finish a lesson, with PostHog, to understand what works and fix what does not. We do not record your screen.
Where you came from. To measure our advertising, the app asks Apple once whether it was installed from an Apple Search Ads campaign and, if so, which one. The app also sends Meta (Facebook and Instagram) a few events: opening the app, finishing the first questions, finishing your first lesson, and starting a subscription or trial, so Meta can measure our ads.
We do not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and the app does not read your device's advertising identifier. We do not collect your location, contacts or photos, and there are no ads inside the app.
Reminders. If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled on your iPhone. You can turn them off in the app or in Settings at any time.
Diagnostics. Apple may share crash reports and basic usage statistics with us if you have allowed that in your iPhone's settings.
Sensei and your sentences
When you write a sentence in a lesson, its text and the lesson it belongs to are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, which returns Sensei's feedback. Your name and email are not included. Under our terms with Anthropic, it does not use this content to train its models.
Who helps us run Readojo
These companies process data on our behalf, only to provide the parts of Readojo listed here:
- Firebase Authentication (Google): signing in.
- Supabase: the database that holds your account and learning data.
- Amazon Web Services: the server the app talks to, in Ireland (EU).
- Anthropic: Sensei's feedback on your sentences.
- RevenueCat: your subscription status.
- PostHog: how the app is used.
- Meta: measuring our ads, with the events listed above.
- Apple: the App Store, payments, Sign in with Apple and ad measurement.
We do not sell your data.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Me and tap "Delete account". You are signed out at once and your account is erased from our servers: your name, email, sign-in and learning history (lessons, answers, streaks and progress). Signing in again later starts a new account. A record of any purchase is kept, no longer linked to you, for our accounts.
To have anything else we hold removed, such as usage analytics, email us at the address below and we will do it within 30 days. Guest accounts carry no name or email.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Only Apple can do that, in Settings, under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing the address below. You can turn off reminders and notifications at any time.
Children
Readojo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above.
